However, you’d be wrong to think that Belvedere is all heavy industry and built-up zones. Belvedere, with its location close to the river, has a large number of green areas, such as the area adjacent to Southmere Lake and Lesnes Abbey Woods. The latter is a wonderful place to go for a walk in the grounds of a former medieval monastery. Another place to go for a walk is Lessness Heath (yes, that’s how you spell it!), plus a number of other parks. So Belvedere is far from being a concrete jungle and you’re likely to end up with mud on your shoes after a walk there – just remember to either wear Wellingtons or take your shoes off at the door to avoid more Belvedere carpet cleaning than you have to have.
